RISK OF INJURY
Golf, an outdoor sport, has certain inherent dangers such as being hit by a stray golf ball or slipping on wet grass, pathways or loose gravel. On registration of membership the member acknowledges this fact and hereby agrees to NOT hold the club, club owners, managers or employees responsible or liable for injuries caused or suffered to their body or personal property while on club property.
TEE TIME BOOKINGS
Highlands Golf Clubs book groups of 4 golfers at 8 minute intervals. Daily regular tee times at Pakenham alternate between two Public and One Member round. During busy times members should expect to either play as a foursome or be grouped together with other players to make a foursome. During late afternoon or slower periods an attempt will be made to honour requests to play at less than four. Please do not play as a “Fivesome”. Early morning players (first 10 to 12 groups) are expected to play in 3.75 hours with a gradual progression to a max of 4.25 hours with the late morning tee times. This ensures early afternoon players finish within a reasonable time frame. Course marshals are given the responsibility of ensuring the pace of play is maintained by all golfers. Members are not exempt from being asked to speed up their pace or to advance to the next hole when continued delay is experienced.
GOLF SHOPS & BOOKING INFO
Hours of operation for the golf shops vary according to seasonal demands. If we are unable to take your call, please leave a message. Members may book tee times 7 days in advance. The toll free line into Calabogie is reserved for Villas guest enquiries and greens fee bookings. Members are asked to use the Golf Shop direct lines. Cancellation of a booked tee time should be advised 24 hours in advance including any decrease in number of players (e.g. foursome to a twosome). “No shows” are tracked and members can lose their booking privileges or be assessed a fee for unsold time for repeated failure to advise changes. Time on the golf course is the product we sell. Failure to manage this policy effectively can only result in increased golf fees. Be considerate to new staff members – please introduce yourself as a member and show your card on arrival in the golf shop. It takes a while to remember everyone. Without fail, all members must register in the pro shop before advancing onto the golf course.
CATEGORIES & FEES
At Calabogie, Lakeview members are provided a discount on the Championship course of 50% the regular greens fee. Pakenham weekday members are provided a discount for weekend play at 50% of the regular fee. The same policy applies if you are playing a complimentary round at the sister course. Intermediates at Pakenham play unlimited during the week but are restricted to after 2:00 p.m. weekends and holidays. Juniors are restricted to after 2:00 p.m. all days. Intermediate Members at Calabogie may play unlimited all days. Juniors may play the Lakeview Nine unlimited all days but after 2:00 p.m. on the 18 hole course. Senior Memberships are available for those aged 60 and up. Both must be 60+ for the Senior Couple category. Memberships are subject to GST and all are required to pay QGA (Men’s) and CLGA (Ladies) Fees. Members are asked to pick up their Club Membership Cards, Association Cards and (if applicable) bonus cart cards in the spring on first visit to the pro shop. Opening season is always a busy time for shop personnel so please ask for them. Replacement of lost Assoc. cards are charged for by the respective group, so it is best to keep all cards in your golf bag.
MEMBERSHIP DUE DATES
Those wishing to receive our early bird bonus of two free 18 hole cart rentals are welcome to remit fees by cash, cheque, debit (including GST, QGA &/or CLGA dues) before Jan. 31st. Notwithstanding the above, the balance of any outstanding and current Membership Fee is due in full on or before play. (Our record opening is Calaboge on March 8th!!) To avoid additional credit card commission fees we ask memberships be paid by cash, cheque or debit card. Please review rate schedule for details.

You must have your membership card with you or you will be charged a regular greens fee. Highlands members also receive other bonuses …Member Cart Rental Discounts..ask your golf shop for details!
COURSE CONDITIONS
Course superintendents and their staff work diligently to provide optimal playing conditions, often fighting Mother Nature along the way. Members can protect conditions with just a few considerate habits. Always, always, always fix your ball mark – and if time permits – fix one other as well. We’ll be happy to give you a divot tool free of charge and advice how to repair the mark correctly. Just ask the shop staff. Do your warm up swings OFF the tee while you’re waiting for your turn. Hand carts can compact turf – so please keep them well away from aprons. Resist the short cut everyone wants to take. It isn’t long before a path is worn. While enjoying the comfort of a power cart please, please, please use the cart paths wherever available and keep them well away from approaches & aprons.
PACE OF PLAY
This topic deserves a full page in itself. We encourage all members to think about how they can keep an acceptable pace of play– not only for your own foursome – but also for everyone who is playing behind you. It is the little things that add up – if you don’t recognize them yourself – just ask the rest of your group. Chances are they will probably be relieved to tell you. Your Club Pro and Club Captains are also a great information resource.
NEW PRIVACY LAW
Effective January 1, 2004, Canada’s new Privacy Laws came into effect. Although the Highlands has never shared member info with a third party other than Members’ Executives, we are now required to request members advice if they DO NOT want their name, address, and telephone number provided to Executive.
